For our anniversary my wife and I were headed to visit a winery and a waterfall or two. As we were driving I suddenly saw the Franconia Sculpture Park. It was totally unexpected. Since we weren't on a strict time table I decided we would stop and take a look.
When it comes to art, I am not one to spend a lot of time looking for deeper meaning. My appreciation pretty much boils down to a judgement of like/don't like/interesting with a smidgen of "Wow, that took some work" or even "What the..." This place has some of all of those.Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Sunset over the Mississippi
On one of my runs recently I got some really nice sunset pictures over the Mississippi River with the Minneapolis skyline and the Marshall/Lake Street bridge.

Views from the Guthrie Theatre
For my wife's birthday we went to the Guthrie Theatre to see "Roman Holiday". They took the movie starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck and turned it into a musical by adding songs written by Cole Porter. It was entertaining, although there were points it seemed getting the songs involved seemed a little forced. It's probably a struggle stemming from the fact that they started with a complete story from the original movie and then added songs that were written for other purposes. They have a lobby area called the Endless Bridge (a 178 foot cantilevered bridge) with a terrace on the end with some great views of the Mississippi River.
